Obsolete Textbooks
In the normal course of operations, the District accumulates obsolete textbooks and instructional materials. These items are worn or have been replaced by new editions or adoptions. Education Code section 60510, 60530, and Board Policy 3270 outline procedures for proper disposal of these items.
Once obsolete textbooks are declared “obsolete” by Educational Services they should be stamped “Discard”. Placement of the “Discard” stamp is important for resale value. Please stamp each book only once inside the front cover (in the middle area). Once this is done, the books can be boxed and sent to the Warehouse for appropriate disposal outlined in the Education Code.
