    Dear Parents and Guardians:

    Thank you for your interest in the 2022-2023 Intersession/Summer School. Summer school is an opportunity to provide your student with targeted and personalized instruction that will help them move closer to grade level proficiency in English and Math. We also add in arts, music and other options to make this time meaningful and fun.

    The 2023 Intersession/Summer School will be held at these four (4) locations:

    Cedar Lane Elementary will serve students currently in grades TK-6 from Browns Valley, Cedar Lane, Cordua, Covillaud, Dobbins, Foothill (6th grade only), Kynoch, Loma Rica, McKenney (6th grade only), and Yuba Feather.

    Edgewater Elementary will serve students currently in grades TK-6 from Arboga, Edgewater, Ella, Johnson Park, Linda, and Olivehurst.

    Details about the intersession/summer school are:
     
    SESSION 1 - Intersession Facilitated by the MJUSD After-School Program: June 5th - 9th
    Students served during intersession TK-6th Host Sites: Cedar Lane and Edgewater. Please contact 749-6915 for any questions.

    June 5th The entire day is run through STARS/ASES staff. 8:00AM- 5:00 PM
    • 8:00 AM-8:30 AM- Breakfast 
    • 8:30-12:30- Academic Support 
    • 12:30-5:00 PM- After-school activities (Enrichment, Recreation, and Supper Meal)
    June 6th- 9th 
    • 8:00 AM-8:30 AM- Breakfast 
    • 8:30-12:30- Classroom instruction by credentialed teachers 
    • 12:30-5:00 PM- After-school activities (Enrichment, Recreation, and Supper Meal)
    • Breakfast, lunch, and supper will be provided.
    • Bus transportation will be available to students to/from designated pick-up points. You will receive a phone call from the Transportation department the week prior to the start of this season.
    • Intersession/Summer School is not mandatory and there are more requests than space allows. Please be aware of the following:
    • Students are subject to all school rules during this session, including bus behavior. 
    • If a student is asked to leave class for any disciplinary action, this may result in the student being dropped from intersession 
    • Students' electronic signaling devices (cell phones, iPads, Apple watches, etc.) will have to be turned off during sessions.
     
    SESSION 2 - Summer School: June 12th-30th
    • Monday through Friday (in-person only)
    • 8:00AM - 8:30AM - Breakfast
    • 8:30AM - 12:30PM - Classroom instruction by credentialed teachers 
    • Elementary only - 12:30 PM - 5 PM - After-school activities (Enrichment, Recreation, and Supper Meal) 
    • Breakfast, lunch, and supper will be provided.
    • Bus transportation will be available to students to/from designated pick-up points. You will receive a phone call from the Transportation department the week prior to the start of this season.
    • Intersession/Summer School is not mandatory and there are more requests than space allows. In order to ensure that each student maximizes this opportunity, below are the attendance criteria: 
      • All students must attend the first and last day of their assigned Summer School class.
      • Any student not in attendance on the first day will be dropped in favor of a student on the waiting list.
      • For high school students, any student not in attendance on the last day of each semester will not pass the class or receive credit.There are no excused absences in Summer School. More than two absences in Summer School will result in a drop from this session.
    • Students are subject to all school rules during this session, including bus behavior.
      • If a student is asked to leave class for any disciplinary action, this may result in the student being dropped from Summer School.
      • Students' electronic signaling devices (cell phones, iPads, Apple watches, etc.) will have to be turned off during sessions.
      • Students will keep their Chromebooks and must return them at the end of Summer School.
      • High School students participating in the credit recovery program will have an opportunity to take up to two classes(10 credits).

    School Principals will be sending out more detailed information the week before summer school starts.
